Technical FAQ

Collapsible deep dives on bank rails versus blockchain, self-custody, depeg and Solana risks, data sharing, Chainalysis, and private-banking positioning.

Blockchain & stablecoins

Is Echlon a crypto platform?

No. Echlon is a financial platform that uses stablecoin infrastructure as a backend settlement layer. You send and receive in standard currencies (USD, EUR, BRL, MXN, etc.), while your balance is held in USDC. The blockchain settlement layer runs in the background.

Do I need a crypto wallet or exchange account?

No. Your Echlon account handles everything. A digital wallet is created for you automatically during signup, and you never need to interact with it directly. See Your wallet & keys for details.

What happens if a stablecoin loses its peg?

Stablecoin depegging is a known risk. If USDC or USDT were to temporarily lose its 1:1 peg to the dollar, it could affect the value of funds in transit. However, both stablecoins are backed by real-world reserves and have mechanisms to restore their peg. Echlon monitors market conditions and may adjust which stablecoins are used for settlement. See our Risk Disclosure for full details.

Can I withdraw my funds as stablecoins instead of fiat?

This is not currently supported. All withdrawals are processed as standard currency to your bank account.

What is Solana and is it safe?

Solana is a public blockchain network that has been operational since 2020. It processes billions of dollars in transaction volume and is used by major financial institutions and fintech companies. Like any blockchain network, it operates independently and is not controlled by Echlon. Network congestion, forks, or protocol changes are risks inherent to any blockchain — see our Risk Disclosure for details.

Wallets & keys

Can Echlon freeze my wallet?

Echlon does not have access to your private keys and cannot directly freeze or seize your wallet on the blockchain. However, Echlon may restrict your platform account access (for example, if required by law or for compliance reasons), which would prevent you from using the Echlon interface to transact. Your assets in the wallet would remain yours and accessible through other means since you hold your private keys.

What wallet provider does Echlon use?

Echlon uses Privy as the embedded wallet infrastructure provider for secure key management. Privy is selected for its security architecture and regulatory compatibility — ensuring your private keys are protected by encryption that even Echlon cannot access.

Is my wallet the same as a crypto exchange wallet?

No. Crypto exchange wallets (like those on Coinbase or Binance) are typically custodial — the exchange holds the keys and you have a claim against them. Your Echlon wallet is non-custodial — you hold the keys and own the assets directly. See Wallets & keys for more details.

Can I import my Echlon wallet into another wallet app?

If you have your seed phrase or private key, you can access your wallet through any Solana-compatible wallet application (such as Phantom or Solflare). Your wallet exists on the blockchain, not just within Echlon.

What if I lose my phone or can't log in?

Losing access to your Echlon account does not mean losing your wallet. If you have your seed phrase or private key, you can recover access to your wallet. If you have lost both your account access and your recovery credentials, contact support — we can help with account recovery, but we cannot recover your private keys.

Settlement

Is settlement really instant?

The blockchain settlement is near-instant (seconds). But the total time from "you send" to "they receive" depends on the local payment corridors at both ends. A PIX-to-PIX corridor can be same-day. A SWIFT-to-ACH corridor might take 1–5 business days. We are always optimizing for the fastest possible end-to-end time on each corridor.

What happens if the blockchain is congested?

Solana is a high-throughput network and congestion is rare. In the unlikely event of network congestion, settlement may take slightly longer (minutes instead of seconds), but your transaction will still be processed. We monitor network conditions in real time.

Are blockchain transactions reversible?

No. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed. This is why we show you the full details — amount, rate, fees, recipient — and ask you to confirm before any transaction is submitted.

Security

Can Echlon be hacked?

No system is entirely immune to attack. However, even in a worst-case breach of Echlon's systems, your private keys are protected by encryption that even Echlon cannot access — an attacker would not be able to access your keys or move your funds. This is the fundamental advantage of non-custodial architecture.

Is my data shared with anyone?

Your data may be shared with licensed banking partners (to process your transactions), identity and business verification providers, blockchain analytics providers like Chainalysis (for compliance monitoring), and regulatory authorities (when required by law).

What is Chainalysis?

Chainalysis is a leading blockchain analytics company used by government agencies, financial institutions, and exchanges worldwide to monitor blockchain transactions for compliance and security. Echlon integrates Chainalysis to screen all wallet activity in real time.

How does Echlon protect against unauthorized transactions?

Multiple layers: 2FA on accounts when logging in, real-time transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics screening, banking partner monitoring, and the fundamental protection that only you hold the keys to authorize transactions from your wallet.

Private banking

Is Echlon actually a private bank?

No. Echlon is a financial technology company, not a bank. We provide the platform and interface — all regulated financial activities are handled by our licensed banking partners. When we say "private banking, reimagined," we mean we are making the capabilities of private banking (multi-currency, yield, cards, institutional FX rates) accessible to everyone, not that we are a bank.

Are there minimum deposit requirements?

No. There are no minimum deposits, no minimum balances, and no minimum transaction amounts. This is one of the core differences from traditional private banking.

How can Echlon offer this type of product without minimums?

Our stablecoin settlement infrastructure eliminates the correspondent banking chain and the fees that come with it. This structural cost advantage allows us to offer rates that are comparable to what large private banking clients pay, without requiring the same deposit levels.

Will Echlon offer wealth management or financial advice?

No. Echlon does not provide investment advice, financial planning, or wealth management services. Treasury products are self-directed — you choose how much to allocate and to which products. Nothing on the platform constitutes a recommendation or solicitation.
